Find a Friend or Partner - A Practical Guide

Finding a partner on the AMG website is easy. Remember only people who are registered on the site can create their Profile on their Home Page and search for a Partner.

The first thing you must do is to complete your 'My Profile'. Much of the information collected during registration is shown in the 'My Profile' section of My Home Page but you can add to it and change it at any time.

Your 'My Profile' on your My Home Page is your shop window and it is the thing that will be seen by other people looking for partners.

To view your 'My Profile' click on the My Home Page menu item in the upper left hand side of the screen. We are going to use the member 'Marilyn' as an example. The screen shown below is displayed. Note that Marilyn has ticked the Friends box in the 'Looking For' section, this denotes that she is looking for a Friend rather than a Partner. She has also ticked some Interests, added Films to Other Interests and has described her perfect Friend in the About Me box.

You change your 'My Profile' by clicking on Edit Profile at the top of the My Home Page screen. When you have finished editing your Profile scroll to the bottom of the Edit Profile screen, click on 'Update' and the click on My Home Page to check that the new information is correct.

You will get more interest if you include a picture of yourself in the 'My Profile' section. To upload a picture click on the 'Browse' button in the 'My Profile' section. After clicking on the Browse button, find the picture to upload on your computer, see below.

After you have clicked on the picture name (marilyn.jpg) and the Open button you will return to the screen below.

Click on the Upload a Profile Picture button. Shown below is the 'My Profile' section with the picture.

So this is how you can present yourself to other members. Now lets see how other members would find Marilyn and be able to view her Profile. The first thing to do is to click on Search for a Member on the left hand side of the page. The following Search Screen is displayed.

Note that we are searching for a Female who is looking for Friends and is interested in Films. After setting the Search criteria, that can be as tight or wide as you like, click on the Search for Members... button. The following screen is displayed.

Click on View Profile or the picture of the person you want to view and you will be taken to their Home Page. So the next screen to be shown is

If, after seeing the person's Profile, you woud like to make contact then click on Send Private Message in the Message Board section. You will be taken to the following screen

You can now fill out the Subject line and input a message of introduction. Note that by sending this message none of your personal details are revealed, only your User Name. The only way the other person can respond is by replying to this private mail. When the other person receives the mail they can click on the sender's (your) user name and view your Profile.
