Welcome to the Forum User Guide

AboutMyGeneration website the Forum is the place where you can read comments posted by Registered Users. If you are registered then you will also be able to post comments and start new threads

If you have never used a Forum before then this short guide will get you started. Before using the Guide you should register with the site. Registration is free and allows you full access to the entire site. Click HERE to register. Once you have registered and logged in click on the Forum menu item on the left hand side of the page. The main forum screen is displayed.

Note that the Forum has main topics and sub topics. To help you through the process we are going to concentrate on the main topic of Art and the sub topic of Exhibitions. The next thing we do is click on the sub topic exhibitions and the following screen is displayed.

You can create new threads in any sub topic. Think of a thread as a discussion point. Within threads it is possible to post your own messages which will start a discussion or reply to any previous messages that has been posted. This sub topic is currently empty so we will create a new thread for it. The next screen is displayed after clicking on the New Thread menu item just under the violet coloured title bar.

At the top of the screen the Subject box is filled out with "Rodin Exhibition at the Royal Academy", this is the title of the new thread. In addition the text box has been filled out and this is the first message in the new thread. Note that there are some word processing facilities at the top of the editing box and you can experiment with these in the future. However at the moment just key in plain text. When you have finished you can post your new thread and message by clicking on Update, see what it looks like by clicking Preview or abandon it by clicking Cancel. After clicking on Update the next screen appear.

Now other registered user are given the opportunity to either Quote or Reply to your message. Quote simply means that your message is repeated in their reply whereas Reply just publishes their message. Quote can be useful when you are replying to a message that may have been posted several days earlier. This final screen shows a reply that was as a result of the user clicking the Quote option.
