Create your own Round Robin

It's that time of year again when you want to tell your friends and relatives all about what has happened to you and your family in 2007

Well this year why not do it the modern way by creating your own Round Robin here, on the AboutMyGeneration web site. Once you have built your Round Robin you can use it all through the year to keep your loved ones up to date with your latest news.

So here goes, we are going to base this example on a member called Robin Round.

Step 1 - Register

You must register on the site. Just click on the Register Button, top right of the screen or see the 'How to Register on the site' guide under Help and FAQs

Step 2 - Create your own Group

Click on My Home Page and then scroll down until you see the 'My Groups' section shown below. Note that on registration a Group called Friends is automatically set up.

We are now going to create a Group called Family Round Robin so now click on the 'Create a Group' button the following window appears.

Complete the Group Name and Description and fill in the Password box. You will give this Password to anyone that you want to join the Group. This also stops other people looking at your News and Pictures. When you have done this click on the Create button.

Note: Do not tick the Public check box, this will publish your Group to all the members

You will now see the Groups section with your new Group created. Note that the red cross under the Group description lets you delete the Group and the blue pencil enables you to change the Name and Description of the Group.

Now you can click on the 'Family Round Robin' icon and start creating your Round Robin. The screen you will see is shown below. This enables you to post messages and upload pictures. When you get other members to join this Group they will also be able to post messages and upload pictures so you can see how they are doing. You can fill out the Message box and click on the Post a Message button and use the Upload a Picture button to upload your photos.

The next screen shows the Group with a Message posted and a Picture uploaded.

Step 3. - Inviting your Family and Friends

You can now invite other people to join AboutMyGeneration and they will be able to see your Round Robin and Pictures.

So now you can E Mail your Family and Friends with the following instructions and don't forget to give them the Password, in the example we used the Password egg

1.  Go to the www.aboutmygeneration web site

2.  Register on the site (If you are not a member)

3.  Click on Search for a Member on the left hand side of the screen

4.  Search for the User Name (Insert your User Name) the example we are using is robin

5.  When your entry is displayed click on View Profile under your Profile picture

6.  Scroll down and click on the Group (Insert your Group Name) the example we are using is Family Round Robin

7.  First time only you will be asked to enter the Password and then click on the button Request Membership of this Group.

8.  You can now read the Messages, see the Pictures and upload both Messages and Pictures

Robin is a test user so why not search for robin and become a member of his Group. You can then see how the system works. Remember that the Password is egg

You may find it useful to print this guide. Click on the Print icon in the bottom right hand corner or use the Print facility of your browser
