In life you belong to a number of Groups, the most common examples of these are Family and Friends. There may also be other Groups you belong to like a Golf Club or Evening Class and thinking even wider your street or neighbourhood.

For this reason AMG has created the concept of Groups as a really powerful way of keeping with in touch with other members of your Group by sharing both pictures and information with them.

In outline you create a Group and the Group has its own 'Home Page' that features a picture gallery and notice board. You then add other AMG members to the Group or members can apply to join.

Only members of the Group can see the gallery and notice board.

Any Group member can upload pictures and post on the notice board.

So here goes, we are going to base this example on a member called Robin Round and he is going to create a Group for his Family

If you have any problems when you are creating your Groups, uploading pictures or posting on the notice board then please call or mail

You can now invite other people to join AboutMyGeneration and they will be able to see your Round Robin and Pictures. Use the 'Invite a Friend' facility on the left hand side of the page to do this.

You must add people to your Group. Use the Search for a Member facility to find people who you want to join this Group. When you have found them view their Profile and click on Add to Group. They will be sent a message telling them that you have added them to your Group

Alternatively someone not in your Group can click on the Group and will be given a button to click to request membership of the Group.

When they click on the Request button you will be sent a message. The message will be in your Messages box. 'Messages' on your Profile screen will be in bold with a number in brackets next to it if you have received any messages. The number in brackets is how many unread messages you have. You will also be told of any new messages on the AMG home page when you log in. Click on Messages on your home page or View Messages on the AMG home page to go to your Messages box and you will see who the message is from.

After clicking on the message Subject the next screen is shown.

When you have selected the Group click on the Add button.

You can also find members using 'Search for a Member' on the left hand side of the screen. You can then go to their Profile and add them to your Group without them needing to make a request. The user will still be sent a message.

Robin Round is a test user so why not send a request asking to be a member of his Group. You can then see how the system works.
