Book in at Bookers
Peter Morrell spends a glorious afternoon at the Bolney Wine Estate at Bookers Vineyard
The quality and reputation of English wines goes from strength to strength and one of the vineyards in the forefront of this success is Bookers, tucked away down a village lane, about 10 miles north of Brighton just off the A23.
Peter and his wife joined one of the highly popular vineyard tours, the ‘ Luxury Tour and Tasting’, to see how their wine is grown, to look at the state of the art winery and to find out why Bookers wines are so successful.
Along the way he enjoys the country views, the wildlife and a delicious Sussex Buffet

Gaucho Restaurants own label Argentinian Wine
One of AMG's favourite restaurant groups, Gaucho, has expanded its own label range to include nine specially produced Argentinian wines.
The Terruño range, Terruño being the Spanish translation of ‘terroir’, has been put together by Gaucho Director of Wines, Phil Crozier to represent all of the major grape varieties in Argentina. The wines have been developed to show the special characteristics of each grape variety, made by the best winemaker, in the ‘terroir’ to which they are best suited. The Terruño range is sold exclusively by Gaucho both in their restaurants and in their Cavas de Gaucho, wine boutique.

Cafédirect
Spotlight on the UK's biggest supplier of Fairtrade Coffee
The collapse of the International Coffee Agreement in 1989 sent market prices plunging, putting the lives of millions of smallholder farmers around the world in jeopardy.
In response, three coffee growing communities - in Peru, Costa Rica and Mexico - each shipped a single container of coffee, loaned on trust, to the UK. The beans were roasted and sold through church halls, charity shops and at local events.
Cafédirect was born.

Booze Newz
Peter Morrell, Food and Drink Editor of AMG, has recently enjoyed a number of liquid surprises and delights.
Updated 1st September 2009
In this month's edition he has been donning his clogs to see where one of the World's most famous drinks was born and discovers it is also made in a northern place more noted for another drink. It's then a long way down south to find the birthplace of this next drink and with any luck the people who make it will have you dancing at home. It's then back up north again to find out that you don't have to be single to be smooth and tasty. And while up north uncovers a very complex and satisfying drink flavoured with ingredients from all over the World. And finally a neat little gadget will make even the most basic wine taste better in an instant.

An Accidental Masterstroke
Thirty years ago Montana planted their vineyard rows west to east rather than north to south. Surprisingly, this gave the winemakers a broader range of grapes to blend from and resulting in a vibrant flavour never experienced before. This fortuitous discovery raised the profile of New Zealand wines in the UK and created a huge demand for them.
To find out more about the journey from grape to glass, have your wine questions answered watch this exciting wine tasting event, simply pour yourself a glass and sit back and relax.

Supersize Wine
As the Government campaign ‘Know Your Limits’ urges us to be aware of how much we are drinking, the breweries seem to be encouraging us to increase our intake by serving supersize glasses of wine that are up to 40 per cent bigger than the standard size. According to a survey by Which? magazine the 125 ml standard measure of wine is being phased out by many bars and pubs.
