A computer for the not so technically minded

Apparently only about half of the over fifties in Britain have access to online information and services and are using email to communicate. Compare this to the 80 per cent of 29 – 45 year olds and you can see that age is causing a real digital divide. 

But as a lot of older people, regard computers as complicated and a bit frightening they are missing out on so many of the advantages of modern communication. Even the computer literate fifty somethings may have elderly parents who would benefit from being online.  How convenient would it be if they could order their shopping on the net or if you could email them rather than phoning all the time? Launched by Blue Peter presenter Valerie Singleton, simplicITy, a computer specifically designed for older users and technophobes could be the solution.
