Hello and welcome to the AboutMyGeneration September Newsletter

Hi everyone and welcome to the AMG September Newsletter – particularly to the many new members that have joined this month.

It seems that the summer was barely here now that the kids are back at school and the leaves are beginning to fall. But there are still plenty of things you can do to keep cheerful as Autumn approaches. You could, for example, make the most of the late sunshine and take a trip to Amsterdam as we are offering two free flights to this vibrant city. You could also start planning next year’s holiday with the help of ‘The Road Less Travelled’ which will tell you all about the over-priced and over-hyped tourist spots to avoid and suggest alternatives that are far from the madding crowds - you have the chance to win a copy or to buy one at a generous discount. Expert travel writer John Carter also has a few suggestions about walking in cities as an alternative to the summer pleasure of hiking uphill and down dale.  And if any of you are planning to combine your holiday with the adventure of a lifetime, we have some real life stories and tips on the pitfalls to avoid when planning a grown up gap year.

For the ladies looking to stock up their winter wardrobe there is the chance to win tickets to the season’s hottest fashion show and Mother’s of the Bride can indulge themselves and their daughters in the ultimate shopping experience at the National Wedding Show.  Talking of Mothers-of-Brides, Chris, our very own MOB, is putting out a cry for help into cyberspace with her MOB Blog which airs for the first time this month.

Autumn is always a busy time in the West End as new shows hit town after the summer. And this month proves no exception as we bring you a range of great Theatre Club offers, including three major new shows. Finally, we are not going to mention Christmas just yet, but you could get yourselves prepared by checking out the competition and reader discount that we have set up with online perfume retailers zoomperfume.co.uk

More competitions and articles are planned throughout the month, so keep tuning in

Best wishes Peter Morrell - The AMG Team peter@aboutmygeneration.com

The Editor's Diary

Chris the EditorUpdated 5th August 2009

In this edition has she been listening to the Government by doing five a day? She meets a Number One at Number One and this Number One is going Dutch with her. It looked like a hospital and the people inside were dressed like medics but where were the patients? Buck House should have been renamed Duck House on the day she drove past it because that was all it was fit for. It was then on to listen to some magical folk tales from the Emerald Isle and part of the magic was being transported there for three days. Enthused by a demonstration, she went somewhere new and exciting - the kitchen! On the home front she buys a special present for her husband's birthday, it's not a paltry gift but does cost chicken feed. And finally she spents some time with some very buzzy people in a hive of activity.

Chris Hurley's Mother of the Bride Diary

With a daughter getting married next year, I am beginning to realise that weddings are a complicated old business and I have a lot to learn.  There are plenty of brides to be out there blogging about their big day but mothers of the brides and grooms are nowhere to be seen.

As ideas person, support system, mediator and diplomacy expert, a mother’s work is never done.  Ultimately we bear responsibility for the success of the day – not to mention the cost – so it’s time we had our say too.

Rambling is not necessarily just about walking in the countryside negotiating stiles, steep slopes, uneven ground, steep slopes uncertain bridges over streams and canals and the like.

Well-known broadcaster and long-time presenter of Wish You Were Here and the BBC Holiday programme, John Carter advocates stretching a leg in some of the great cities of the world but ultimately takes a delectable bite of the Big Apple.

Peter Morrell spends a glorious afternoon at the Bolney Wine Estate at Bookers Vineyard

The quality and reputation of English wines goes from strength to strength and one of the vineyards in the forefront of this success is Bookers, tucked away down a village lane, about 10 miles north of Brighton just off the A23.

Peter and his wife joined one of the highly popular vineyard tours, the ‘Luxury Tour and Tasting’, to see how their wine is grown, to look at the state of the art winery and to find out why Bookers wines are so successful.

Along the way he enjoys the country views, the wildlife and a delicious Sussex Buffet

Hair LossHair loss

It’s more common than you think

It is believed that hair loss affects one in two men and one in three women in the UK. For both men and women, the initial signs of hair loss can come as a real shock. However, while anyone suffering hair loss may want to turn a blind eye or try to cover-up the problem, it is important to confront the situation. There is no need to suffer in silence and there are ways to manage the problem. Patricia Bruckland, 59 from Kent, was initially horrified to find her hair was thinning and to discover a bald patch.

Watch the video below where she discusses how she dealt with the issue by clicking here...
