Hello and welcome to the AboutMyGeneration June Newsletter
May saw a huge number of new members signing up to AMG and we send you all a very warm welcome. And again this month we have plenty of new articles, offers and competitions for you.
Well we did it! The AMG Crocus Walk, to raise funds for research into breast cancer, took place on Saturday May 23rd. A very big thank you to everyone who turned up, 30 in total and three dogs. With money in and sponsorship yet to collect we have already comfortably exceeded our target of £1000 to raise for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity. There is a link to the pictures and the walk report below.

In this edition, she attends a reception where, if the view was anything less than clear, the venue would not live up to its name. After the reception she enjoys a major football match... by not watching it. It's back to another Embassy this month where a good evening of food and wine is made even better by the 'water' that is on offer. A warm evening, in an underground bar, almost results in her 'Doin' a Euan' under the watchful (single) eye of a great British hero. She manages to twist her foot in the mad dash between one event and another only ten days before the AMG Crocus walk but is rescued by the namesake of the aforementioned hero. And finally, underneath the arches, she springs a surprise on a recently departed regular house guest

The AMG Crocus Walk
Walking with a Purpose
Take 30 people united in a common purpose, 3 dogs, a sunny spring day, some stunning countryside and what have you got? The answer is the perfect ingredients for the AMG Crocus Walk.
On Saturday 23rd May, we held the first AMG Crocus walk to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and to celebrate the memory of Jean Gooch, a dear friend of the AMG team that we lost to breast cancer last year. And we are delighted to say the walk was a great success. Not only did we all thoroughly enjoy our five-mile trek but we also confidently expect to exceed our fund raising target.

The AboutMyGeneration Theatre Club
CHICAGO is a show that's hotting up over summer with some high profile casting. Throughout June you can see the charismatic showman and TV host Jerry Springer playing suave and slimy Billy Flynn, and from 13 July multi award-winning Destiny's Child singer, Michelle Williams, will be wowing audiences at the Cambridge Theatre as Roxie Hart. AMG Theatre Club members can save up to £21 on tickets.
All good things come to an end and, after a mammoth run at the London Hippodrome, LA CLIQUE is closing on 27 June. Don't miss out on this truly unbelievable mix of spectacle, circus, burlesque and comedy, and save twenty per cent on tickets.

Nar is a Star
For nearly 200 years, until the mid 19th Century, the Vauxhall area in London was a magnet for people wanting fun and entertainment. The reason for its popularity was Vauxhall Gardens, a large space that featured concerts, hot air balloon rides and fireworks, all innovations in their day.
Well Vauxhall has just received a well deserved and significant boost to its popularity with the opening of a brand new restaurant and bar called Nar. Nar, Turkish for pomegranate, is located in two adjoining railway arches. A major design and refurbishment of the space has created a modern, spacious bar in one arch and an elegant dining room in the other.

Welcome to Food Newz, the column that covers everything foodie. In this edition, a trip to the West Country proves to be both a healthy and tasty experience. After all that travelling we need something to keep our strength up so the next two items are mighty, meaty matey. Perhaps after all this indulgence it should be back so something lighter so again the healthy option is on the menu. There is something we can rival the French with, it's not wine but a whole lot tastier. For those with a sweet tooth the next item is a treat but may include some unexpected ingredients. And finally, a couple of dates for your diary that will make it a flavoursome and cool summer.

In this month's edition he is in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia on the trail of the lonesome vine and takes the view that if it's good enough for Barak Obama then it's good enough for him. It's then back to the UK to enjoy England's finest... wine and beer that it and he also creates and christens a new drink. It's then onto Austria where the hills are alive to the Sound of Drinking and very good drinking it is. There is then a 'locked in the tuck shop' moment where he goes for a Brazilian, not as painful as it sounds, meets a couple of Belles from France and is impressed by something from the land of Silver. And he finds the perfect cure for the many times that he has been 'shot'
