Hello and welcome to the AboutMyGeneration Newsletter and a very Happy New Year to you all.
After the Christmas celebrations, January can be such a dull time, so why not give yourself a New Year treat with the very special offers from the AMG Theatre Club? It's also the time of year to think about the changes and improvements we would like to make. To help the ladies wanting to get in shape, we have some tips on exercising effectively from Kathy Smith, one of America's leading fitness experts. There's also the opportunity to get a serious makeover, absolutely free, from Channel 4's 10 Years Younger Series which returns to our screens later this month. The programme is looking for men and women who want to look younger, with or without surgery.
Most New Year resolutions have been forgotten by now, but Resolution 2009 is a series of Fun Runs with the Stroke Association that will enable you to increase your distance and fitness and keep you on track over the course of the year. Theres also the opportunity to apply to take part in the Red Cross exciting challenge, The Great North Swim, which will take place later in the year. More and more charities are seeking volunteers through AMG so keep checking our volunteer section for the latest opportunities to take on an enjoyable challenge and raise money for a worthy cause.
Cynthia Sillars talks about Kinesiology, a therapy she discovered eight years ago when her life was in crisis and explains how it could do the same for you.
We will also be looking at new and unusual destinations for those of you wishing to broaden your travel horizons this year, beginning with the Province of Quebec in Canada, which, although not widely known, is something of a gourmet's paradise.

In this edition, she get into training for this cold snap by drinking in a bar that is made of ice and later that week is surprised by the warmth of Canada. The Russians, and some Guinness, give her a helping hand at an Irish Quiz Night. She finds that Carousel is a bit creaky but gets a present of a Nutcracker at Christmas. The local pub gets re-discovered as a long, lost treasure. Financial reality dawns for her daughter's wedding and a possible date gets set to make sure that the preferred venue is not taken. The decorators are back, but why were they fiddling with the plumbing and how could they possibly stop the dishwasher from working? To read the diary click here...

Many of us will remember buying our first freezer back in the seventies. Charley Boorman
AMG ran a competition for this book earlier in the year just after the finish of the TV series Long Way Down and the number of entrants was phenomenal. This is in no small part due to the endearing personality of Charley Boorman, star of the series and author of the book.
This book is a really good read, it moves at an absolutely cracking pace, but still retains that inimitable Boorman laid back and good humoured style, despite the trials and tribulations that Charley meets on the way.
