August Newletter
AboutMyGeneration
Hello and welcome to the AboutMyGeneration August newsletter

Also a special welcome to the many new members who joined during July. The last two months has seen the number of members triple so it's great to have you all on board

We have had a couple of complaints from the female members about lack of contact from the males. So come on you guys use the Search for a Member facility and send messages to the women. They will really appreciate it. If you are shy, why not start posting on the forum either in the discussion threads or the New Member's section.

Again a lot of new articles and information on the site this month and three great competitions to enter including Wasted? a signed biography by cricketer Paul Smith and a Make Over from New ID.

And finally, the site is designed for you, the members, and your contributions and ideas are most welcome. For example there have been changes to the Member Search and the creation of Travel Mates this month, both Member suggestions.  So if you have any ideas that you think would make the site better then please mail me peter@aboutmygeneration.com

Kind regards and happy surfing

Travel Mates - Never travel alone again
Travel Mates

Find a Travel Mate

Do you want to travel but don’t fancy going alone?  Then why not check out our Travel Mates Group to find like-minded individuals to share the experience and reduce the cost?  You might want someone to join you on a World Cruise or just to get together with a group for a day out in the UK. Whatever you would like to do, just post a few details on the Message Board or look for someone who has already posted. Even if you prefer to do your own thing, you can ask other solo travellers about the best places to visit and learn from their experiences.  Take the first step to planning that trip now and click on the Travel Mates link at the bottom of the left hand column. You must be registered and logged in to use this facility. If you are not registered click here...

New Feature - Public Groups

New Feature - Public Groups

Travel Mates is an example of the new Public Groups feature we have introduced. You can set up a Group on your Home Page but make it Public. When you do this a link to it is displayed on the bottom of the left hand column for anyone to join. A Public Group is useful if you want to get together with others who share a special interest and  want to swap messages and pictures. To create a Public Group go to your Home Page and click the Create Group button. Name the Group but also tick the Public box. You should write the objectives for the Group in the Description box. This Description is shown when you hover over the Group Link, when someone joins the Group and at the top of the Group page.

Wasted'WASTED?' is the story of how cricketer Paul Smith’s life fell apart after a drugs ban in 1997 effectively ended his career. He believes he was made a scapegoat and to this day feels that he was singled-out while several other, favoured players were allowed to continue their careers. Paul lost his home, his marriage, his children, his self respect and, of course, the game he loved. How does a man come back from that?

Win a signed copy of Wasted?. This raw and gritty biography of cricketer Paul Smith charts his rise to fame through losing everything to his eventual redemption as a role model for disadvantaged kids. Click here... to enter the competition.
