Run for your life
Edward Chapman started running after a health scare at around the age of forty, when he describes himself as a fat, office bound chartered accountant. Twelve years on he has run over 25 marathons, about 20 ultra-marathons (including the 55 mile South Africa Comrades marathon 6 times) and the Marathon des Sables.
Facing redundancy in 2005, Edward decided on a complete career change and started his own business – Run the Country - based on his passion for running.
The aim of Run the Country is to spread the joy of running amongst as many people as possible: particularly the pleasures of off-road running and foreign travel
Edward and his partner Phil have now launched a toolkit, to coach and motivate beginners in stages to become regular runners. To read more click here...
From Midlife to Good Life
The time has come for women to ‘kit up for Midlife’ and say no to the idea that their middle years, especially the menopause, signal ‘the beginning of the end’. It’s time women learned how to ‘write their own script’ for living their lives from midlife onwards and celebrate maturity as they set out on a whole new journey. This was the message from leading health expert Maryon Stewart, as she launched ‘The Natural Menopause Kit’, a brand-new holistic programme for getting fit for midlife and managing the menopause naturally. Don't ban the light bulb
You have probably read in the newspapers and on this site in the blogs and forums about the proposed EU ban on the traditional incandescent light bulbs. This will force us to switch to energy efficient compact fluorescent lights (CLFs) While we are not opposed to CLFs they are not suitable for every situation.
AMG has started a campaign to stop the banning of these bulbs. The issues are not clear cut and will create environmental, safety, security and practical problems. To read more about the implications of banning these bulbs click here... or sign the Downing Street petition http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/BewareCFLs/ However we are only asking you to sign it if you agree with the content of the petition.
