Winning Christmas Gift for Men – Craft Beer + Snacks = Sorted!

Peter Morrell indulges in a bumper bundle of treats cleverly curated by Empress Ale

If you’re still stuck for inspiration as to what to buy the man, brother, father or even grandfather in your life, then here are two winning ideas from premium craft British pale ale Empress Ale which will definitely go down a treat.

Perfect for enjoying in the man cave or while watching the beautiful game, these two Gastro Snack boxes will be welcomed with open arms – and they won’t break the bank either.

I recently tried the British Gastro Snack Box, the first thing I was impressed by was the good packaging, to ensure that the contents weren’t damaged in transit. The box has obviously been put together by someone who knows the way to a man’s heart. There’s an array of moreish snacks and three bottles of Empress’s delicious Premium Pale Ale to go with them.

All the snacks were good, from the traditional oven roast, smoked bacon flavour pork crackling to the on-trend snacking salami. I was very impressed with the two uniquely flavoured crisps. the Italian Cheese and Port version vying for first place with the Wagyu Beef and Honey Mustard. It was a tie; they were both excellent. Not to be outdone, the oven baked almonds with Cornish Sea Salt were healthy and very tasty alternative.

An elegant Empress branded tulip shaped glass is included in the box, this is ideal for sipping the three bottles of Empress Premium Pale Ale which come with the snacks. The Empress Premium Pale Ale has been developed with an award-winning brewery, chefs and restaurateurs, so it’s primarily a beer to enjoy with snacks or food. This craft beer poured a light gold colour and fast-moving bubbles created a good white head. On the nose there were good malt aromas with notes of floral hops. As the beer moved to the palate the malt and light hop flavours remained, there was a bright, dry astringency to the beer, making it an ideal companion for spicy and strongly flavoured food. The finish was strong and clean with a spicy and persistent kick at the end. The Empress Premium Pale Ale is a well-crafted beer, with a dry character and assiduously hopped making it the perfect partner for food.
