Greek street food favourite, PITTABUN, launches new menu at Soho restaurant

PITTABUN, the vibrant street food concept from the Modern Greek Food Group, has added some new favourites to its menu in time for summer. Housed at 4 Newburgh Street, PITTABUN is a restaurant and takeout offering a casual and innovative Greek street food experience. Savoury and sweet hand-stretched stuffed pittabuns, sourced directly from Greece, are available alongside fresh salads and oregano sprinkled chips.

Ranging from £6.80 to £9.90, PITTABUN is has a new evening menu launching which is perfectly suited to summer months. The new range of open buns are fresh and delicious and make for a perfect light dinner or can be combined with sides for a more substantial meal. Choose from highlights including Open Vegan Greecamole of a delicious fresh pitta topped with guacamole and Greek salad, the Open Souvlaki which features grilled slow-cooked pork belly with tzatziki and salad, and Open Fish and Beets which combines crispy cod fillet with skordalia, roasted beetroot, greens, and beetroot ketchup, all available now amongst other open PITTABUN options.

For loyal customers, all of the existing favourites are still available, including the Asian Vegan Bun, featuring a chargrilled Portobello mushroom and homemade kabayaki sauce, and a Pitta Dog Bun topped with a unique Greek ‘kimchi’ and PITTABUN’s best-selling Sunday Roast Lamb Bun and Spicy Chicken Bun with homemade guacamole and spicy salsa, are still firmly on the menu along with several other original dishes.

For those after an indulgent treat, the sweet PITTABUNs complete the mouth-watering menu. Choose between the new Choco Bun, an irresistible mix of Nutella, gaufrette and hazelnuts, or the Apple Crumble Bun, served with caramelized apples and salted caramel sauce.

Founded by renowned Greek Chefs Georgianna Chiliadaki and Nikos Roussos – the brains behind two-Michelin-starred Funky Gourmet – and Andreas and Alex Labridis, PITTABUN has substantial credentials in delivering exceptional Greek cuisine. It is the second venture of the team, which in 2014, created OPSO – an all-day Modern Greek casual dining restaurant in the heart of Marylebone, now in its 5th year of operation.

At this new street food concept, PITTABUN, all meats are slow-cooked for 10-15 hours before being finished off on the robata grill or left to caramelise in a custom-made rotisserie. As a result, the pittabuns are beautifully tender and juicy. Freshly hand-cut chips and salads made from the finest Mediterranean ingredients complete the offering.

As for the interior of PITTABUN, it’s a modern take on the traditional Greek street food joints with the buzzing kitchen team preparing food behind a long take away counter, fronted by an exposed brick wall. Beyond this, the sit-down space has a Mediterranean plaza vibe, with relaxed marble bench seating wrapping around the edge of the room, and contemporary stools and tables dotted around to make for a setting perfect to enjoy a bite with friends or family. Natural light from the nearby skylight bounces off the partly mirrored ceiling while verdant greenery cascades down from above. Further to the indoor seating area, PITTABUN has a neat terrace for sun-seekers looking for a bite to eat while watching the world go by.

To complete the experience, guests are also invited to enjoy carefully selected draft beers from independent microbreweries, as well as wines from Greek grapes.
