The Sarojin celebrates Thailand’s Vegetarian Festival

This October, The Sarojin, Thailand’s luxurious 56-roomed boutique residence, will be celebrating Thailand’s Vegetarian Festival with a specially-created menu

Taking place October 9th – 17th, the nine-day festival period celebrates the Chinese community’s belief that a meat-free healthy diet creates good health and peace of mind. With 50%* off stays at The Sarojin until October 31st, October is the perfect time for a healthy Thai retreat.

It is commonly thought that the festival originates from the story of a Chinese Travelling Opera Group who were visiting Phuket, Thailand when they fell ill. To aid their recovery and cleanse their minds and bodies, the group decided to commit to a strict vegetarian diet, while praying to the Nine Emperor Gods. Following the group’s miraculous recovery, a celebration was held to honour and thank the gods, and so Thailand’s Vegetarian Festival was born.

To celebrate the annual festival, The Sarojin is offering a special Vegetarian Festival Menu, in addition to the sumptuous vegetarian dishes usually offered at the residence’s restaurants. From delicious Banana Flower & Coconut Soup and refreshing Green Papaya Salad to fiery Eggplant and Chilli Tamarind and traditional Vegetable Green Curry, diners will be truly spoilt for choice.

For those wanting to learn as well as eat, The Sarojin offers cooking classes with its chefs, who are all passionate about Thai cuisine, culture, herbs, spices and local ingredients. Starting the cookery class with a visit to the local market, guests will get to discover the fresh, indigenous ingredients that are vital to Thai cooking, while exploring the local culture. Once back at the residence, guests can dive into learning all about the preparation and cooking techniques of some of Thailand’s best culinary delights. The Thai Vegetarian cooking class is the perfect way to complete a healthy Thai Vegetarian Festival retreat at The Sarojin. Other cooking classes include Chef’s Recommendation, Southern Thailand, Thai Favourites and Home Style & Street Food classes. Classes start at THB 4,000 (approximately GBP 95) per person.

Guests can enjoy 50% off stays between now and 31 October 2018, with GardenResidencesstartingg at just THB 5,900* (approx. £135*) per night for two people, inclusive of the all-day a la carte breakfast and taxes.
