Honi Poké Makes A Splash on Fenchurch Street

Riding the wave of the Hawaiian poké phenomenon which swept its way through New York and LA before landing on British shores, Honi Poké is bringing full-on Pacific flavour to the City with an exciting eatery on New London Street near Fenchurch Street Station

Following on from their Soho debut last year, Honi Poké’s light, healthy and flavourful, protein-packed bowls – to grab-and-go or tuck into tableside – are fast becoming the lunch du jour for busy City types sick of salads and eschewing sushi.

With a counter service menu created by Executive Chef Richard De La Cruz, formerly of three Michelin-starred Quique Dacosta in Spain, the newest restaurant is open weekdays for lunch and dinner, and (unlike its sister Soho site) stays open late serving chilled Hawaiian beers and cider – perfect for those long summer evenings ahead.

Taste the Hawaiian Rainbow

Layering beautiful, sustainably-sourced, raw fish with vibrant veggies and fresh rice or slaw, each of Honi Poké’s colourful bowls is a work of edible art, worthy of any Insta-feed. Five signature protein-filled bowls include Octo Poké (flame-torched octopus with edamame, kimchi, sunomono cucumber, spring onions and chilli), Ahi Poké (tuna, avocado, edamame, nori seaweed, sesame seeds), Honi Poké (salmon, salty mango, sunomono cucumber, crispy onion and chilli garlic sauce), Tofu (with pineapple, edamame, sesame seeds, spring onion and ginger soy) and new addition, Teriyaki Chicken (with black mushrooms, edamame, sunomono cucumber, crispy onions and chilli flakes). All come accompanied by brown rice, sushi rice or veg slaw bases and housemade, gluten-free sauces.

Those who want to personalise their poké can ‘build a bowl’ of their own by mixing and matching their favourite ingredients. Customise your dish by choosing a base and a protein then add ‘mix-ins’ such as salty mango, sunomono cucumber and avocado and toppings with crunch like nori seaweed, crispy onion and sesame seeds.

Pacific-Inspired Drinking

Honi Poké’s fresh, fast and flavourful thinking continues when it comes to drinks. Vitamin-packed smoothies, exclusive to Fenchurch, include Very Berry (red berries, almond milk, honey and lemon juice), Passion Fashion (pineapple, passion fruit, soy milk, honey and banana), Anna’s Bananas (vanilla, banana, red berries, chia and soy milk) and Bango (salty mango, banana, almond milk and sesame seeds).

For beverages with a little more bite, look to Honi Poké Fenchurch’s range of beers and ciders which includes Hawaiian brews such as Kona Big Wave Light Golden Ale and Longboard Lager, alongside the crisp, dry British Hawkes Urban Orchard Apple Cider.

Fresh Interiors

The interior is fresh and bright in keeping with food. Spread across two floors, ground floor diners can keep things quick and simple, perched on high stools at the counter tables in full view of the poké counter, whilst those looking for a more chilled-out vibe can head up to the mezzanine level where comfortable, cosy seating lends itself perfectly to more relaxed sit-down lunches and suppers. Soft beachy tropical colours of green, sunshine yellow and flamingo pink are interspersed throughout the venue and contrast with the natural wood BauBuche counter and table tops.

Get bowled over with a taste of the Pacific at Honi Poké’s new Fenchurch site.
