The Crab & Lobster in West Sussex launches new “Catch & Cook” Experience from Chichester Marina

Revered locally for its seafood dishes, The Crab & Lobster restaurant in West Sussex has launched a ‘Catch and Cook’ gourmet fishing experience

Organised in association with local fisherman Adam Shaw of Something Fishy Fishing Charters together with one of the restaurant’s own chefs – the hands-on trip enables guests to rig, bait and haul in their catch. Depending on the season, this could include bass, ray, bream, tope, cod, whiting and conger.

Then, on the return trip to Chichester Harbour, there’s potentially the opportunity to watch a demonstration on how to scale, fillet and bone the fish, before enjoying a cooking masterclass at sea.

Using locally foraged produce such as samphire and sea spinach, the fresh and tasty seafood feast is then cooked for guests to enjoy aboard the boat whilst anchored in the calm waters of picturesque Chichester Harbour, an area of outstanding natural beauty, just off East Head.

Departing in the morning, the five-hour adventure takes place on one of Something Fishy’s twin-engine modern fishing vessels and includes hot drinks, all equipment, tackle and tips from Adam and his crew on how to rig and bait rods and catch fish; as well as the cooking masterclass and light fish lunch.

Available on selected dates from May to November, Catch and Cook stays at the Crab & Lobster start from £152.50* per person per night based on two sharing a double room including a full English breakfast and the half-day Catch and Cook experience.

This 350-year old restaurant with rooms is located in the pretty village of Sidlesham on the banks Pagham Harbour in West Sussex – just three miles from the Chichester Marina and only 85 from London. With two AA rosettes, it offers a modern menu with an adventurous twist on fresh fish together with traditional English and Mediterranean dishes. Wine buffs are spoiled with a choice of 30 different wines by the glass.
