Chef Matt Campbell the most exciting and relevant culinary voice to emerge in UK gastronomy for years

On MasterChef, judge and two Michelin-starred chef, Marcus Wareing described Matt’s signature dish of ‘cod cheeks done 3 ways’ as the “best signature dish I have ever eaten on MasterChef”. His extraordinary caramelised miso soufflé with Kefir had critic Jay Rayner exclaiming “Wowzer…every single person watching this should be jealous of us now!”. And who can forget Matt’s moss-infused sea bream movingly dedicated to his late father and inspired by their shared love of the Lake District: “outstanding…stunning, stunning in every way” said Marcus.

Matt (29) now draws together the creative culinary skills and nutritional knowledge acquired on his global travels to establish Nutritional Gastronomy, an exciting, ground-breaking movement which successfully bridges the gap between the worlds of gastronomy and health. Through a succession of stunningly original recipes and using techniques and ingredients from around the World which promote health and replace unhealthy alternatives, Matt demonstrates that it is not necessary to sacrifice taste and mouthfeel in the interests of wellbeing. In so doing he places himself at the centre of much awaited and needed culinary progress, with a new and fresh voice that demands to be heard.

Matt – exuding serenity and certain Buddhist calm – possesses traits rarely found in the hospitality industry but which are utterly relevant for our times.

Hailing from Cumbria, first learning his trade at the famous, Michelin-starred restaurant l’Enclume. He shone in the kitchen from an early age – finishing second in BBC’s Young Chef of the Year competition aged 20 – before embarking on a life-changing global culinary adventure which saw him honing his skills cooking as a private chef for VIPs in France and travelling and cooking extensively around the World including India, Thailand, Peru, Central America, and Iceland.

2018 will see Matt cooking for Hollywood A-listers at The Oscars in March, as well as embarking on a UK-wide roadshow. He is running the Manchester and London Marathons in April 2018.
