Rudie’s Celebrates its 2nd Birthday

What a difference two years make…

24 months ago a corner site in the heart of Dalston was transformed to bricks and mortar, opening its doors and serving Londoners some of the best and most exciting Jamaican food the capital has ever tasted.

Now, two years later, the restaurant is throwing the mother of all birthday parties. The festivities take place on Saturday, 30 September, with Chris Royals, semi-finalist on The Voice UK (series 3) on vocals, supported by his band comprising bass, drums, keyboard and guitar. The group will be playing a mix of soul, jazz, funk and reggae until 11pm, when a DJ takes over until the early hours of 4am, the party spread across both floors. Head Chef Vernon Samuel kicks off your Caribbean journey with pre-starters of Bammy Bruschetta Scotch Bonnet Red Onion Marmalade and ackee. To follow, he has pulled out all the stops for his starter of Pigeon Pea Soup with Jerk Marinated Giant Prawn. For mains you’ll be able to enjoy Vernon’s Authentic Jerk Baby Chicken with Roasted Breadfruit and Salt Mackerel Coconut Rundown before finishing your meal with the mother of all desserts, Soursop Millefeuille with raspberries and Irish Moss Ice Cream. All of that for only £27.50.

The bar team at Rudie’s have been hard at work, shaking and stirring up the perfect line-up of cocktails for you, both fitting for a celebration and a great accompaniment to Vernon’s dishes. The Kingston Dub Club is made with Cold & Blac, Special Appleton rum, espresso, condensed milk, The Duppy Share is made with vodka, Chambord, lime juice and Grenade and The Bamboo Blue is made with vodka, butterscotch syrup, Blue Curacao and pineapple juice (all priced at £8.50). The drinks menu also sports a selection of great Jamaican rums to enjoy throughout dinner.

And if you’re Rudie’s birthday twin, you’re in for an additional treat throughout September. For anyone who celebrates their birthday during this month, you’ll get a complimentary sharing cocktail if they dine at Rudie’s in a group of 4 or more.

So make sure to venture to Dalston and prepare yourself for some wild dance moves, making even a twerking Miley Cyrus blush.
