The County Arms unveils a Fresh New Look

From Sunday roasts to cosy weddings, there’s plenty to love about The County Arms in Wandsworth

A long-standing Young’s watering hole since 1852, the pub has now revealed a brand-new look, delicious seasonal menu and craft ale collection. Welcome back

Forks at The Ready

Bursting with beautiful British ingredients, the new menus promise to keep you fuelled from breakfast and brunch to late night suppers with loved ones.

Busy days can begin with the stunning new breakfast menu, with dishes toasted English muffin with sausage patties, bacon, fried egg and Bloody Mary sauce; smashed avocado with chilli and poached eggs on toast; and baked eggs with spinach and ricotta on sourdough.

For lunch or dinner, small plates that celebrate the season take centre stage including roasted cauliflower soup with charred cauliflower and stilton fritters and buttermilk chicken with pomegranate, pickled chilli, apple and toasted walnut salad. Moreish mains come in the form of pan-fried lemon sole with sweet scallops, clams, wild garlic and cream; indulgent treacle and stout pork collar with fried duck egg and triple cooked chips; and blood orange, beetroot, lentil and pomegranate salad with a vibrant mint dressing.

Not forgetting the sweet stuff – the chocolate, hazelnut and orange sundae and blackberry jam roly poly with pistachio and vanilla custard both offer modern twists on much-loved classics.

Always guaranteed to draw-in the crowds, Sundays stay true to tradition with delicious family-style beef, pork belly and chicken roasts served with all your favourite trimmings.

From the Bar

With 185 years behind them, Young’s is famed for their dedication to great beers and The County Arms makes no exception. Choose from nine draught beers and three ales on tap including local Wimbledon Common pale ale, Camden Hells lager and two Young’s brews. Celebrating the grape as much as the grain, the pub’s global wine list features Colección Privada Reserva Sauvignon Blanc, Whispering Angel Côtes de Provence rosé and Jealously Pinot Noir to name a few. With summer on the horizon, The County Arms’ long list of fresh fragrant gins, versatile vodkas and spicy rums provide the perfect refreshment.

A Passage Through Time

Originally built on a plot of Wandsworth Common known as the Fair Ground, the pub showcases four distinctive areas, with interiors each reflecting its transformation and heritage, none more so than the distinctive Victoria Lounge. Here, the interior is all English heritage luxe, with a nod to the sophisticated gentlemen’s clubs of a bygone era, in a colour palette of rich green and navy. Decked out in finery fit for a king, notable touches include deep-set armchairs, opulent glass chandeliers and an original working fireplace.

The welcoming Wandle Bar makes a statement through the striking wood-clad bar, library book walls and vibrant furniture. The Belvedere Room can be found to the rear, offering a laid-back conservatory dining space with a hand-painted Wandsworth mural on the exposed brick wall, skylights, concertina doors and rustic details. Come Sunday, a secret space will be transformed into children’s play area complete with a magic storyteller.

Let’s Party

From weddings to christenings, birthdays to business events, the upstairs Trinity Room offers an airy private space ideal for intimate gatherings. Licensed for both weddings and civil ceremonies, the pub’s planning team are well-versed in creating bespoke events to suit any style and budget.

Come Outside

With ample seating and umbrella covered tables, the raised Alma Terrace and sun-bathed County Garden are the ultimate summer hideaway. Ideal for after-work pints or long Saturday lunches, the extensive tree-lined garden is decorated with pretty string lights for subtly romantic feel. Here, BBQs are the order of the day with seasonal dishes including BBQ lamb with bulgur wheat salad and mackerel en papillote on offer throughout the season.
