Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish Single Malt Whisky

Peter Morrell sips a classic quality Speyside which offers a lot of added complexity

I have been sampling the Glen Moray Sherry Cask Finish which has been matured in Oloroso sherry casks. This process gives the whisky a totally different taste profile and adds a richness with spicy undertones to the light floral flavours of the original.

The complex nose gives a range of aromas including toffee, dried fruit and suggestions of yeast. This evolves on the palate into brioche and tropical flavours backed up with good oaky tones of vanilla and spice. The finish is strong and lingering with hints of black pepper.

Available at Sainsbury’s and whisky specialists from 20th July the big surprise is its RRP of of £22.00 for 70cl, making it a very affordable pleasure. This would make an ideal present for the discerning whisky drinker.

Glen Moray

Glen Moray is a quality Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Elgin, the capital of Speyside, Scotland’s most famous whisky region. The distillery has been producing fine malt whisky, distilled in traditional copper stills, on the banks of the River Lossie since 1897.

Whilst much has changed since distilling began, the ingredients have remained the same; ensuring Glen Moray has kept its authenticity and quality. The Classic range of whiskies introduces consumers to an approachable and well-priced range, the latest of which is Glen Moray Classic Sherry Cask Finish.
