Top City Restaurant to open for Sunday Lunch

Chamberlain’s, one of the City of London’s foremost restaurants, has announced that it will be open for Sunday lunches from the New Year.

Based in Leadenhall Market, which now enjoys a flourishing tourist trade at weekends, the restaurant is owned by one of Billingsgate’s key wholesalers – Chamberlain & Thelwell – supplying most of the top London hotels. Fish isn’t the only thing on offer though; the restaurant will also be serving roast rump of beef, corn fed chicken and interesting vegetarian options for a great-value price of just £21.50 for two courses, or £27.50 for three. All ingredients are sustainably sourced from the finest producers and chosen by the restaurant’s award-winning executive chef Andrew Jones

Starters include Scottish oak smoked salmon garnished with capers, parsley, egg, soda bread croutons, crème fraiche, caviar and lemon oil, butternut squash velouté with foie gras beignet, and Darjeeling tea smoked mackerel, with apple salad, crispy shallots and burnt leek dressing. A delicious range of desserts is offered, plus Welsh rarebit for those wanting a traditional British savoury to end their meal.

During the week, many of our customers are business folk,” says Jones, “but increasingly we are being asked to open on Sundays, when many of our regular customers come back into the City with their families. In the past we have only done this for private parties but the thriving tourist trade in Leadenhall Market has now made it feasible. Our Sunday lunch menu will evolve throughout the year and as well as the set menu, we will have oysters, smoked salmon blinis, smoked salmon and quail Scotch eggs and Baeri caviar.

We will also have a pie of the day, which might be fish, shepherd’s, steak & kidney or chicken & leek. This can be enjoyed as a main in the set menu or just as a course on its own for those not wanting to linger for long over their meal.” He adds.

Chamberlain’s will be serving Sunday lunches from Sunday 11 January 2015.

As an additional incentive AboutMyGeneration has arranged a special offer for readers. Mention AMG when you booking or arrive at the restaurant for Sunday lunch and you will be entitled to free coffee and petits fours.
