Wake Up and Smell the Coffee

Artisan has arrived in Ealing!

Artisan, the independent coffee shop group, brings its love for all things coffee to its third location in Ealing – now open! Also located in Putney and Stamford Brook, Artisan offers a fun loving atmosphere to escape, relax or work. Chill back with the sounds of music playing, friendly staff with a welcoming smile and of course – the vital ingredient – great tasting quality coffee.

Coffee is at the heart of everything at Artisan, and this infectious enthusiasm is passed through from the owners (the couple is half Australian after all) to its energetic and well-trained staff, always delighted to share this knowledge with anyone interested in finding out more. Artisan takes much pride and pleasure in making each customer’s quality coffee experience one to be savoured.

The coffee has been carefully selected from London based Kiwi roaster Allpress Espresso, serving their signature blend of Brazil, Sumatran, Colombian and Guatemalan origins that have been roasted in a classic Milanese style for a rich full bodied flavour. Artisan also offers V60 pour overs, for those who prefer drip coffee, using seasonally selected single origin coffee from Nude Espresso – it takes a little longer to prepare but is worth it for its freshness, quality and exceptional taste.

Recently awarded Best Cakes and Bakes in London at the 2014 London Coffee Stops Awards, don’t forget to try the delicious treats on offer from Anzac biscuits, or a palette of flavours with lemon and rosemary, rose and pistachio or chocolate and Guinness cakes. For something more substantial, you can enjoy a range of tasty treats that match the quality of the coffee from the morning granola, pastries and porridge to lunch-time seasonal soups, salads and tarts or hearty sandwiches.

The 1,100 square foot space makes it the largest of the three Artisan shops and its welcoming window façade can be opened out during the warm summer months with outdoor seating to watch London go by. The entrance takes customers straight to the bar made out of Portobello Road market stalls from which they can place their orders to sit, sip and enjoy (seats 40 covers) or pick up their takeaway for those on the move.

The bar is also home to a surprising discovery – an elegant coving feature which was revealed as the walls had been stripped back to its original form and has consequently influenced the venue’s naturally distressed décor and feel. The overall feel of Artisan Ealing is one of being stripped back and genuine. Its bare charm is complemented by quirky touches including ‘bagalights’ hanging from the ceiling by LiquiDesign and leather making worktables by Brunswick Vintage.

At the heart of its operation is the Artisan Coffee School – an exciting new development for the company. Highly commended for its approach to training, customers can sneak a peek through the quirky installation of second hand window panes to see baristas and professionals from around the UK and Europe learning more about coffee from the Artisan team.

Wanting to improve your own coffee knowledge? Artisan hosts successful coffee master classes on home brewing which costs £35 for 90 minute class. The company’s senior team of baristas show coffee lovers how to unlock the delicious flavours available through these slow brewing methods – cafetiere, aeropress and V60 pourovers – in their own kitchen.

The friendly team are readily available to answer any questions and Artisan has produced a series of helpful takeaway guides and tips on brewing at home. Need to stock up? Artisan’s in-store shop provides all the necessary ingredients and equipment to help recreate that much loved coffee shop quality cup at home.

Owners Edwin and Magda Harrison and the Artisan team look forward to welcoming neighbours, friends and customers in the new location
