Cruising on the Thames tops list of Romantic Things To Do

71% would rather woo on the river
while 12% prefer to have tea at The Ritz

As Valentine’s Day fast approaches, City Cruises, London’s leading riverboat operator, has revealed the results of a survey finding out what really floats people’s boats when it comes to romance in the city.

The survey pinned the Thames as the top spot for a romantic date, with 71% thinking that cruising down the river is the most romantic day activity and 84% confessing a candlelit supper sail would be the ideal night out. When asked who they would like to spend a romantic night with, over a quarter (27%) chose George Clooney as their date of choice.

With a fleet of 15 boats, City Cruises is the number one choice for sightseeing experiences on the river. Offering days and nights out ranging from fine dining at the Hispaniola to adrenaline fuelled RIB rides on Thamesjet – there is something for every romantic out there. But for those who really want to push the boat out, City Cruises is offering a special Valentine’s Day Cruise on the evenings of 14 and 15 February.

The evening begins with a warm welcome and complimentary glass of champagne, before setting sail along the river to enjoy a three course meal with wine. Accompanied by a live band playing love songs and chilled sounds, couples will be treated to a host of sights including the impressive Tower Bridge and glittering skyscrapers of Canary Wharf before taking to the dance-floor for a little cheek-to-cheek.

What’s more – in the spirit of true love – for anyone that chooses to propose on board the Hispaniola or Valentine’s Day Cruise on 14th or 15th February, City Cruises will offer 50% off an engagement party or wedding reception at a venue of choice!*

The Valentine’s Cruise is available from £105 per person for a standard table or £115 for a window table, including a three hour cruise, glass of Champagne on arrival, three-course dinner with tea/coffee and petit fours, half a bottle of wine and mineral water (per person) and a live band for music and dancing. The boat departs from Westminster Pier at 7.30pm (boarding starts at 7.15pm), returning at 10.30pm.

The Hispaniola Valentine’s menu is available 14th and 15th February from £45 per person including a glass of Champagne, three course meal and coffee/petits fours.

The results of the survey are based on 150 entries from London and the surrounding area.
