Chinese Cricket Club rides into the Year of the Horse

Two weeks of fun festivities from 20th January to 5th February 2014

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people come to the capital to wish each other “Kung Hei Fat Choy” or Happy (Chinese) New Year.  And this year is no different – as London’s fine-dining Sichaun restaurant, Chinese Cricket Club prepares to open its doors as it leaps into the Year of the Horse, with two weeks of fun festivities from 20th January to 5th February 2014.  Enjoy a four-course feast, a sharing snack box of prosperity, a lucky red envelope with a mystery gift and if you were born in the year of the horse, a complimentary cocktail!

A Feast Fit for a Filly

A range of special Chinese New Year dishes will be on offer to help fuel the 17-day celebrations with a fantastic four-course menu priced at £79 per person.  Kick-start with a glass of Cricket Club Fizz and a selection of Sichuan specialities including prawn har gao; light and fluffy steamed pork buns and freshly-rolled vegetable spring rolls, followed by crispy aromatic duck; grilled jumbo prawns on a hot pot, sweet and sour pork, and steamed sea bass with ginger and spring onion in light soy served with Yangzhou fired rice.  Finish with a light and refreshing Lychee terrine.

Tray of Togetherness

Every diner will receive a unique Prosperity Platter filled with a selection of snacks to share.  Each snack has a symbolic meaning to ensure a prosperous New Year; choose from a variation of specially delivered platters that may include fresh or dried coconut for friendship and unity; kumquat for gold and prosperity; peanuts for longevity or red watermelon seeds for joy, happiness and truth.

Ang Pow Prizes – Red Envelopes

With your meal comes a long-time traditional Chinese gesture of a red envelope that symbolises good luck and fortune.  Feeling lucky and you could strike gold with one of many fantastic offers and prizes including a meal for four at the Chinese Cricket Club.

Complimentary Cocktails for Horses

Prove you are a thoroughbred*, born in the Year of the Horse and receive a special celebratory drink on the house.  Enjoy the signature Year of the Horse Martini – Konik’s Tail vodka with a dash of ginger liquor; sip on a Singapore Sling – gin, grenadine syrup, sweet and sour mix, club soda and cherry brandy or a racing Red Lotus – Chinese Cricket Club’s spin on a Bloody Mary made with Lucky beer, tomato juice and Asian spices.  To be in the running for other treats, simply tweet a picture of you with a horse @ChineseCClub between 20th January – 5th February – whether it be a real horse, a picture, a photo or even a toy horse – and be in with a chance of winning an exclusive dinner for four, dining vouchers, free drinks and much more! Simply use the #YearOfTheHorse.

So saddle up and hold tightly onto your reins for fun-filled Chinese New Year.
