Christopher’s Thanksgiving Menu

There’s more than one way to get into the spirit of Thanksgiving.
Peter Morrell reports.

Thanksgiving is a tradition very special in the hearts of Americans but not as well known in the UK. Our lesser equivalent is the harvest festival supper. Every year I get together with a group of American friends and enjoy an evening of good food and wine. At the end of the meal we go round the table and everyone states what they have been thankful for during the year, these days it’s not just about safely gathering in the harvest.

If you don’t know any Americans you can still join in with the festivities. Covent Garden’s original modern American restaurant, Christopher’s, celebrates the tradition with an indulgent, 3-course Thanksgiving Menu served all day on Thursday 28th November. Offering a wide selection of stateside cuisine, this one-off menu pays homage to the restaurant’s glamorous history.

Opened in 1991, Christopher’s is Covent Garden’s flagship modern American restaurant. Split over three newly refurbished spaces in a Grade II listed building, Christopher’s encompasses a Martini Bar on the ground floor, a Dining Room on the first floor, and an exclusive Club Room on the lower ground floor.

Christopher’s is a fresh and sophisticated establishment with a lively atmosphere; its food and interior décor perfectly balance modern and classic styles and the Thanksgiving menu is no different. The Thanksgiving menu includes a starter, main and dessert, priced at £48 per person.

Though paying homage to the great American holiday, Christopher’s Thanksgiving menu is greatly anticipated in its own right. With an annual tradition of its own, Christopher’s has been repeatedly voted one of London’s best Thanksgiving meals. The star of the menu is, of course, the hearty turkey dinner. Christopher’s Slow-cooked Ballotine of Organic Turkey is served with all the trimmings; cornbread, hazelnut & michigan cherry stuffing, cranberry relish, buttered beans & creamed potatoes. The desserts are equally celebratory of America’s heritage, with Pumpkin Pie and Peanut Butter Chocolate Tart.

“We take pride in being one of London’s first modern American restaurants. With so many burger joints and American diners, it’s more important than ever for us to offer a glamorous yet accessible alternative. We want to channel the charm of the Modern American era” says Anika Paul, Managing Director. “Our Thanksgiving menu is the perfect way to do that. We’ve taken the best modern American dishes and made them into something special. We’re truly excited about this event.”
