New group trip launched for last stage
of the world-famous Camino de Santiago

Walking the world-famous Camino de Santiago is an ambition for thousands of people each year, yet taking five weeks out and finding a travelling companion are often two of the biggest hurdles for many.

In response to demand Macs Adventure has created a brand new trip for the Camino Frances which is its first guided group trip along the final stage from Sarria to Santiago.

With an experienced walking guide and a small group of travelling companions, the new seven night trip covers the final 100km, the minimum qualification to achieve your Compostela, once your “pilgrim’s passport” has been stamped along the way.

Bookings for walking trips to The Camino de Santiago de Compostela (Way of St James), have increased by 105 per cent since last year, according to Macs Adventure.    And since January this year the company has had more enquiries about pilgrimage tours than any other year in its decade in business.

Neil Lapping added: “Anyone who walks the Camino says that it’s more than just a simple walk.  What makes the Camino special are the fellow pilgrims you meet, the special places you visit, the stories you share and the challenges you overcome.

“Yet at almost 780km long the full route of the Camino Frances takes five weeks or more and for some that’s the biggest hurdle.   Many people do walk solo, and it can be split into sections and completed over time, but we’re finding more people contacting us to ask about group trips for the final stage as they want the companionship and security of knowing they’re with an experienced guide.”
The new group trip costs from £845 per person on a half board basis and is available to book between May and September 2014.   The trip includes accommodation for seven nights, seven dinners, seven pilgrims’ breakfasts, luggage transfers from hotel to hotel each day, group transfer on day 1 from Santiago to the start of the walk at Sarria, half day city tour of Santiago and a guide throughout.
