numnum brings modern Sichuan food to Southwark

Following a successful pop up in Brick Lane, contemporary Chinese restaurant numnum has opened its doors this February in the heart of Southwark

The restaurant is serving modern Southern Chinese wok dishes all created with top quality fresh ingredients. numnum offers fast casual dining for guests at affordable rates; providing a variety of regional Chinese dishes to eat in or takeaway.

The numnum kitchen is headed up by a team of Chinese chefs all from different regions of Southern China therefore providing numnum with a diverse and varied menu. The menu at numnum is small, allowing the chefs to focus on offering quality food. It will change constantly to use seasonal ingredients and allow the chefs to experiment with new dishes and flavours from their respective region of China.

The menu features noodle, rice and roasted dishes in addition to side dishes. Some of the highlight dishes include:

  • Dan Dan Noodles (v)
  • Sesame paste, peppercorn, pressed tofu
  • Wonton Noodle Soup
  • Eight hour chicken broth, prawn and pork wonton, bok choi
  • Beef Noodle Soup – £8.50
  • Beef shin, Sichuan peppercorn, dark beef broth
  • Twice Cooked Pork – £7.50
  • Pork belly, leek, fermented broad bean paste
  • Golden Honey and Spice Roasted Chicken – £7 (3 pieces)
  • Corn fed chicken, curry spices, honey glaze

The menu utilises the most out of the ingredients used and minimises waste wherever possible. Entire chickens and their bones are boiled to make deep, delicious homemade broths for the soups which are all made from scratch.

Guests will be able to get a meal for two people for under £20 and will be able to order on Deliveroo and Ubereats in addition to visiting the restaurant. numnum has 40 covers in the restaurant and is based in Southwark, just a two-minute walk from the station. numnum does not take reservations.
